Ask A Librarian
Using This Guide
This guide is designed to serve as a portal to the many resources that are useful in Applied Medical Science. The tabs across the top of this page should make it easy to find the types of material you're looking for.
While Google and Wikipedia may be able to provide some basic terms or keywords that will be useful in further searching, keep in mind that the authoritative sources you will need require the use of scholarly sources. Those are not typically available through Google. Our reference sources provide scholarly summaries, facts, and statistics, while our databases contain millions of articles from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. The URSUS database allows you to search the UMaine system of libraries for books and other materials. If we don't have the items you need you can probably request them free through Interlibrary Loan.
Your best resource, however, is the USM Librarian who serves as the liaison to this department. All the USM Librarian's invite you give them a call or email them for a time to sit down and discuss your research needs. We may be able to save you lots of time by pointing you to the right sources from the beginning.
