FRS 197: Information Power Unleashed 

Oct. 20:

• Not the only fish in the sea: getting beyond Academic Search Premier.
• Subject databases, format databases, aggregator packages: what's the difference?
• And once again: How do I figure out whether we have my article?

Assignment for week of Oct 20 (to be submitted to pprieto@usm.maine.edu by Tuesday, Tues Oct 27):

1.  Email me 3 journal citations about your topic from 2 different databases other than Academic Search Premier (not 3 each - 3 total).  Please remember to put your name in the subject line or the comments box so that I know who it's from.  While you're at it, email them to yourself too - you're going to need them.

2. Also submit a brief explanation of why/how you chose the databases you did, as well as which of the two you found more useful and why.  This can be a separate email, or a message in the notes/comments box of your database email, if there is one.

3.  Don't forget the reference questions at the reference desk!!
