LCC 230 will cover many topics leading to understandings of the interrelationships between ecology, economics, politics, and social endeavors. The course requires significant amounts of analytical reading. The lectures will be comprised of Socratic interactions and group discussions analyzing the local, regional, national and global changing environmental forces. The laboratories will be a mixture of laboratory-based experiments, computer simulations, field work, experiential and service learning activities covering: global warming, energy utilization, population, water, food, ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, wastes, environmental ethics, and ecological footprinting.
