Toward a Global Ethics (4 cr)
This middle phase, second tier writing instruction course assists students in assessing their own values by comparison and contrast with the values of other cultures. It explores the influence of particular cultural ideologies and relativism on ethical belief systems and critically examines the ethical principles implied by democracy, sustainability, justice, and difference. The course examines ethical issues and dilemmas faced by individuals, organizations, and nations while exploring personal and collective ethical decision-making processes in a global context. Finally the course investigates the role of science and technology in moving us toward or away from global ethics.
Note: this is an Information Literacy-intensive course.
